Faculty of Education
Starting from 1977, the Ministry of Education worked across the nation to train locals in the field of teaching and in March 1984, to give teacher training more focus, the Teacher’s Education Centre was established. On 1 October 1998, with the establishment of the Maldives Higher Education (MCHE), the center became an institute of the College. and in 01 February 2001, it was named as the Faculty of Education (FE) of the Maldives College of Higher Education. With this change, in 2002, the designed undergraduate teaching courses began ensuring the higher equality in the teachers that reached the schools. With the passing of the National University of Bill, on 15 February 2011, FE became a faculty of the National University of Maldives. With the higher education experiences gained, in 2013, FE introduced the teaching for Master of Education programs and PhD programs. FE’s teacher training programs extended to the campuses and outreach centers in the atolls.
