Overview

The aim of this course is to meet the nation's needs of skilled professionals in the area of teaching English Language in the Maldives. To achieve the aims of this program, our partcipants will study linguistics, literature, phonetics and phonology, psychology, classroom management, pedagogy and etc to equip them with the right tools to meet the demands of the modern day, challenging education system and take on the immense responsibility of teaching English Langauge to the children of Maldives.

Entry Requirements

General Entry

  • i) Two passes at GCE AL/ HSC and 3 OL passes (including a pass in English) or equivalent OR,
  • ii) Attainment of Level 4 qualification in a related field OR,
  • iii) Completion of MNU level 4 Foundation Studies target program.

General Notes

  • Entry requirements are indicative. Depending on the sequence and the number of applications received, all qualifying students may not gain entry.
  • Circumstances may require the University to defer or cancel some courses, especially when the minimum class size (10 for certificate & diploma courses, 15 for Degrees courses) is not achieved.
  • Passes at GCE OL/SSC and HSC is considered to be grades "C" or above and passes at GCE AL is considered to be the grades "E" or above.

Careers

Successful completion of this program will pave the path for our graduates to pursue higher education in the fields of English Language Teaching, English Language and Linguisitcs or English Language and literature. They will also be highly qualified to teach English Language at secondary and higher secondary level. They would be eligible to join our Masster of Education (English Language Teaching) program.
