Overview

Inspiring Young Minds: A course of this nature at primary level has become essential for those who would like to start a teaching career at primary level and those who would like to upgrade their teaching qualification. Further reasons for introducing a course of this nature include: (i) Students who complete current diploma primary programmes get advanced standing for very few subjects in the current B Ed. Primary programmes and (ii) The current primary diploma programmes do not adequately cater for the newly revised National School Curriculum Framework (NSCF) which is very much competency based especially at elementary levels.

Entry Requirements

General Entry

  • i) Two passes at GCE AL/HSC or equivalent, and 3 passes at GCE OL/IGCSE/SSC including Dhivehi, OR
  • ii) MQA approved teaching qualification at Level 4, OR
  • iii) Completion of MNU level 4 Foundation Studies target program or Completion of Advance Certificate in Education.

General Notes

  • Entry requirements are indicative. Depending on the sequence and the number of applications received, all qualifying students may not gain entry.
  • Circumstances may require the University to defer or cancel some courses, especially when the minimum class size (10 for certificate & diploma courses, 15 for Degrees courses) is not achieved.
  • Passes at GCE OL/SSC and HSC is considered to be grades "C" or above and passes at GCE AL is considered to be the grades "E" or above.
