Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Paramedic Sciences is designed to prepare students to deliver high-quality emergency medical care in pre-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. The programme equips students with the knowledge, clinical skills, and professional competencies required to assess, manage, and transport patients experiencing a wide range of medical, traumatic, and environmental emergencies. Students will develop expertise in patient assessment, emergency interventions, trauma management, pharmacology, advanced life support, and critical decision-making in high-pressure situations. The programme emphasizes evidence-based practice, teamwork, communication, leadership, and ethical professional conduct, enabling graduates to provide safe and effective care to diverse populations. Through a combination of classroom learning, simulation-based training, laboratory practice, and supervised clinical placements, students gain hands-on experience in responding to emergencies across a variety of healthcare settings.

Entry Requirements

General Entry

  • i) Minimum 2 Pass in GCE A' Level with minimum 3 pass in GCE O' Level; OR AND pass int the physical fitness and mental fitness test
  • ii) Attainment of a Level 4 qualification in a related field approved by the Maldives Qualifications Authority; OR
  • iii) Successful completion of a related Foundation (Certificate IV) programme offered by the Maldives National University.

Language Requirements

  • i) Certified proficiency in English (GCE O' Level/ IGCSE English/ MNU English Language Competency Test or Equivalent)

Other Requirements

  • i) Pass in a physical fitness and a mental fitness test

General Notes

  • Entry requirements are indicative. Depending on the sequence and the number of applications received, all qualifying students may not gain entry.
  • Circumstances may require the University to defer or cancel some courses, especially when the minimum class size (10 for certificate & diploma courses, 15 for Degrees courses) is not achieved.
  • Passes at GCE OL/SSC and HSC is considered to be grades "C" or above and passes at GCE AL is considered to be the grades "E" or above.
