Overview

The Master of Science in Psychology (Clinical) is a comprehensive and advanced program designed to equip students with the theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and clinical expertise necessary for a successful career in the field of clinical psychology. This program is designed for individuals who desire to become a licensed psychologist, and seek the knowledge, skill and experience to be able to provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions and assessments across a diverse range of mental health issues.

Entry Requirements

General Entry

  • i) Bachelor's degree at MNQF level 7 in Psychology with a minimum CGPA of 2.0 AND must have completed a research subject in a previous program of study AND pass an intake interview

Language Requirements

  • Certified competency in English (GCE/IGCSE O Level English language OR equivalent) OR A pass in MNU English language competency test OR Tertiary education that was taught and assessed solely in the English medium in a recognized country

General Notes

  • Entry requirements are indicative. Depending on the sequence and the number of applications received, all qualifying students may not gain entry.
  • Circumstances may require the University to defer or cancel some courses, especially when the minimum class size (10 for certificate & diploma courses, 15 for Degrees courses) is not achieved.
  • Passes at GCE OL/SSC and HSC is considered to be grades "C" or above and passes at GCE AL is considered to be the grades "E" or above.

Careers

After completion of the course graduates will be eligible to register as a licensed provisional psychologist with Maldives Allied Health Council. Graduates can also work in various other fields such as research, academia, supervision, program development, public policy and other areas and programmes that promote psychological wellbeing in individuals, families and groups.
