Overview

A large number of Journalism graduates who had studied at MNU, are employed in media-related work that also involved doing PR work for their respective organizations. At MNU Faculty of Arts, we saw this as a growing new employment trend for media students. This prompted us to diversify FA media courses to make them more relevant to the changing needs of students and the society. Hence, a new one-year course, Diploma in Media and Public Relations was developed for students wanting to do a joint qualification that combined both Media and Public Relations modules. The Diploma of Media & Public Relations (PR) therefore, provide, essential skills in both fields, providing students, essential skills of a journalist as well as a public relations specialist. The course is, therefore, designed to train graduates who have choice to move between jobs in journalism, multi-media, marketing, public relations and visual media communications. The Diploma, which is equivalent of first year of Media and PR Degree, is also a stepping-stone for students who may want to do a degree that combined both media and public relation fields.
