Overview

Occupational health and safety (OHS) remain a highly neglected area of health in Maldives. At present, Maldives is experiencing many occupational injuries, illness and accidents due to insufficient awareness, recognition and control of workplace hazards. One of the major challenges for this problem has been identified as lack of competent and skilled OHS professionals in the field. This course is expected to meet the national need of development of occupational health and safety experts and enhance workplace health and wellbeing. It will develop competency to develop safe systems of work and manage occupational risk and hazards, to provide safe working conditions for workers in all workplaces. In addition, it will provide opportunity to develop the ability to address health and safety problems at national, organizational and community levels by developing standards, policies, law enforcement and undertaking research in the field
